Brotherly Kindness

This is kindness to all other Christians.

How can Christians show Brotherly Kindness?

1. Prefer others (Romans 12v10)

Put other Christians before ourselves.

Think of their needs. Perhaps they are poor, in trouble, lonely, sad, or need help. Maybe there is a way that you can show kindness to them or help them.

2. Forgive others (Ephesians 4v32)

If they truly repent, then we are to forgive them (Luke 17v3-4; Matthew 18v21-22).

Always seek to have a forgiving attitude.

3. Love one another (John 13v34-35)

We are to love other Christians as Christ loved us.

Loving others is proof that we are Christ's disciples i.e. Christians.

4. Dwell in unity (Psalm 133)

We are to be in unity with true believers. The Lord does not want us to be fighting our brothers and sisters in Christ.

When we are in unity, God will send His blessing.

Epaphroditus

Bible Reading: Philippians 2v25-30; 4v15-19

The apostle Paul was a prisoner in Rome when he wrote the epistle of Philippians. Epaphroditus was a messenger from the church at Philippi to Paul (Phil 2v25).

Epaphroditus 'ministered to Paul's wants' (Phil 2v25). He worked real hard to make sure that Paul had everything he needed.

In fact, Epaphroditus had worked so hard to supply Paul's need that he nearly died (Phil 2v30). Paul needed more than the church at Philippi had sent.

Note the loving care and concern that Epaphroditus had for the Philippians Christians who were worried about him (Phil 2v26).

The church at Philippi gave to Paul when no other church gave to him (Phil 4v15). Paul described the gifts that Epaphroditus brought from them as:

An odour of a sweet smell
A sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God (Phil 4v18)

Because the Philippians had faithfully given sacrificially to God, they could expect God to supply all their need (not their greed!) (Phil 4v19)
